The Art of Event Planning

Spring 2018

Responsible for the coordination and facilitation of Thread's VIP Reception.

About Threads

Threads Fashion Show is an annual event produced by the Fashion Merchandising and Design students at Central Michigan University. The show provides aspiring apparel designers a platform to showcase their work while collaborating with departments across campus. Students gain experience in numerous aspects of fashion production including public relations, photography, video production, graphic design, model management, choreography, stage lighting, web design, and program development.

My Experience

In Spring 2018, I participated in the The Art of Event Planning class. I was assigned as a member of the decorations committee and assisted in the planning, production and facilitation of the event. The decorations committee was responsible for: creating and decorating the reception the day of the event, creating centerpieces and graphics, constructing a mounted exhibition as well as assisting other groups for the reception overall. Attendees who purchased a VIP reception ticket recieved special amenities the day of the show, including: priority seating and parking, gift bags, catered food and bar and other reception activities.
